Astelin

Astelin (Azelastine) may be described as an h1 – receptor antagonist, which relieves one’s symptoms by blocking the effects of Histamine. This medication may also be described as a white, crystalline and an almost odorless powder.

Furthermore, Astelin (Azelastine) may also be described as a steroid – free powder which is known to have a bitter taste, does not contain pseudo ephedrine, is sparingly soluble in water, Methanol or Propylene Glycol and is slightly soluble in Ethanol, Octanol or Glycerin.

Take Astelin (Azelastine) exactly as directed and be sure to consult your health care professional pertaining to the use of this medication in children. This medication must not be administered to a child younger than five years of age.

Furthermore, do not suddenly discontinue Astelin (Azelastine) without prior confirmation from your health care professional.

While on an ongoing course of Astelin (Azelastine) if you notice any of the symptoms listed below, or any other symptoms which may seem severe or persistent, you must contact your health care professional.

Sometimes, Astelin (Azelastine) may cause the patient to experience drowsiness, mild headaches, sneezing, a sore throat, nasal burning and a dry mouth.

Furthermore, Astelin (Azelastine) may cause the patient to experience mild fluctuations in one’s mood, diarrhea, numbness or a tingling sensation in the hands and feet, an altered sense of smell, marginal weight gain and nausea.

If you are on an ongoing course of Astelin (Azelastine) before you commence taking any new medication (either prescription or OTC), you must first consult your health care professional or pharmacist.

Furthermore, you must be sure to inform your health care professional if you are allergic to Astelin (Azelastine) or any other medication in any other form. Your health care professional must also be informed if you are taking any other medication in any other form, whilst on an ongoing course of this medication.

Sometimes, Astelin (Azelastine) interacts with various medications, such as Codeine, Restoril, Cimetidine, Ketoconazole, Benadryl, Claritin and Morphine.

Furthermore, Astelin (Azelastine) interacts with various types of medications, such as tranquilizers, barbiturates, muscle relaxants, antidepressants, medications containing alcohol and antihistamines.

In case of an overdose of Astelin (Azelastine), call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Your health care professional will order certain laboratory and/or medical tests to be performed to check your response to Astelin (Azelastine), monitor your progress and check for side effects. You must also be sure to keep all appointments with your health care professional and the laboratory.

Do not let anyone else take your medication and ask your health care professional or pharmacist any questions you have about refilling your prescription.

Furthermore, if you need to undergo any kind of surgery, including dental surgery, whilst on a course of Astelin (Azelastine) inform your health care professional.

You must be sure to inform your health care professional if you conceive whilst on a course of this medication, have already conceived, breast feeding or are planning to conceive.

Lastly, avoid consuming alcohol and beverages containing even a small percentage of alcohol whilst on an ongoing course of Astelin (Azelastine) and for at least two weeks after you discontinue this medication.

It is important that you do not take a double dose of Astelin (Azelastine) to make up for a missed one, unless you have consulted your health care professional.

Astelin (Azelastine) is used in the treatment of a runny or stuffy nose and sneezing due to allergies.

Be sure to consult your health care professional or pharmacist for more information, since Astelin (Azelastine) is sometimes prescribed for other uses.

Store Astelin (Azelastine) at room temperature (between 59 to 86 degrees F or 15 to 30 degrees C) and away from excess heat and moisture.

It is important for the patient to know that before consuming Astelin (Azelastine), they must inform their health care professional if they have ever had a history of, or are currently suffering from, kidney complications, heart complications, liver complications and high blood pressure. Furthermore, it is also necessary for you to inform your health care professional if you have ever had or are currently suffering from any other medical complications.
