Lamictal

Lamotrigine belongs to the class of medication known as anti convulsants.

Lamictal (Lamotrigine) may also be described as a white to pale cream – colored powder which is known to only partially dissolve in water.

Use lamictal exactly as directed by your doctor.

If you notice any of the symptoms listed below or any other symptoms which seem severe/persistent contact your doctor immediately.

unusual weakness/tiredness
uncontrollable eye movements
swollen lymph glands
swelling of the face/lips/tongue
skin rash of any type
redness/blistering/peeling/loosening of the skin(including inside the mouth)
painful sores in the mouth/eyes/nose
mood changes
fever
difficulty walking
difficulty controlling muscle movements
depression
changes in seizure type/frequency
Blurred/double vision

Sometimes, Lamictal (Lamotrigine) may even cause severe dizziness, migraine headaches, muscle weakness, somnolence, nasal congestion, body tremors, drowsiness, vomiting, change in the amounts of urine passed, diarrhea, hives and nausea.

Moreover, Lamictal (Lamotrigine) may even cause painful menstrual cramps, abdominal discomfort, insomnia, anxiety, troubled breathing, hostility, pressured speech, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, clumsiness and rapid speech.

Lastly, Lamictal (Lamotrigine) may even cause easy bruising or bleeding, one to pass black or bloody stools, vomit to look like coffee grounds, a persistent sore throat, muscle tenderness, one to pass dark or bloody urine, Jaundice, severe chest pain, slurred speech, weakness on one complete side of the body and a severe itching sensation.

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form.

rifampin

trimethoprim

Inform your doctor about any other medication you may be taking in any other form.

Lamictal (Lamotrigine) interacts with various medications, such as, hormonal birth control pills, Ritonavir, hormonal birth control patches, Diphenhydramine, Alprazolam, Codeine, Chlorpromazine, Diazepam, Risperidone, Amitriptyline, Zolpidem, Trazodone.

In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately.

If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive.

Wear a Medic Alert bracelet or necklace
with information about your condition, medications, and details of your health care professional.

Do not double doses to make up for a missed dose. Consult your health care professional about your missed dose.

Lamictal is used to control types of epilepctic seizures, and is not a cure.

Lamictal (Lamotrigine) is even used to help in the treatment of extreme mood swings pertaining to Bipolar disorders in patients aged eighteen and above. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Store at room temperature between 15-30 degrees C (59-86 degrees F) away from heat and moisture.

Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had :

history of depression
bipolar disorder
folate deficiency
kidney disease
liver disease
thoughts of hurting yourself/others/suicide

Avoid alcohol and alcohol containing beverages whilst on a course with this medication.

It is very important for the patient to know that before consuming Lamictal (Lamotrigine) they must inform their health care professional if they have ever had a history of or are currently suffering from severe heart complications.

Moreover, it is important for the patient to know that Lamictal (Lamotrigine) does pass into breast milk.
