Mitaban

Generic Mitaban (Amitraz) falls in the category of medicines known as MAOIs (mono amine oxidase inhibitors). Mitaban dip is exclusively for veterinary use. This medication is available in liquid form. You must consult with your veterinary doctor about the positive and negative effects of this medication before you buy Mitaban online or from any local drugstore. This medication is not for human use.

Follow the exact instructions given by your veterinarian about using this medication. First of all, long haired dogs must be properly clipped. Bathe your dog with water and mild soap then dry the pet with a towel. Prepare the mixture with the liquid concentration and water, in the recommended proportion. Wet the dog entirely with that mixture. Let the pet dry completely. Do not rinse or dry it with a towel. Wash your hands and arms clean with soap and water after administering this drug. Generally, 3 to 6 repetitions of this treatment are required to completely cure generalized demodicosis. Make sure that you do not discontinue the course in between as it is can make the condition worse.

In some severe cases the entire course of Mitaban dip may be repeated after a 7 to 10 day interval. This medication should be administered under a veterinarian’s observation.  

Along with the positive effects there are also some side effects of Mitaban. Some of the side effects are as follows:

• Sleepiness


• Frequent urination


• Skin rashes


• Diarrhea


• Vomiting


• Itching

• Mitaban dip is not suitable for dogs less than 4 months old.


• Humans must take extreme care while administering this medication by using rubber gloves as it can cause skin irritation.


• Do not touch your pet for a few hours after administering this medication.


• Humans having diabetes or taking MAOIs should avoid administering this medication.


• If this medication gets into your eyes, wash your eyes with water for 15 minutes and contact your health care provider without delay.

As far as possible do not miss any of your pet’s scheduled doses. If at all you happen to forget to apply the scheduled dose, apply it as soon as you remember it. However, do not try to apply a double dose to compensate for the missed dose.

Mitaban is used to treat generalized demodicosis in dogs. This skin disease is caused by a very small mite that we are unable to see with the naked eye. Amitraz works by killing such mites that spread infection.

Mitaban dip can also be used as a topical treatment for localized demodicosis and also for sarcoptic mange in dogs. You should store Amitraz in a dry and dark place. Make sure to keep it in a cool place and away from heat and moisture. Protect it from freezing. Store it away from food. • To get better results make sure to apply it thoroughly on your dog.


• The use of Amitraz should be avoided in pregnant dogs because the safety of this medication has not yet been proved.


• For nursing dogs Mitaban should not be used and if urgently required should be administered with a veterinarian’s consultation.


• Mitaban dip should be diluted with water before using it on your pet.


• Care should be taken while applying this medication, that it does not enter your pet’s eyes.
